Honey Bee’ian

Wild Honey from the Forest

Nestled among 200 acres of old-growth forest near Trout Creek and the Molalla River, Honey Bee’ian is a family beekeeping adventure rooted in nature, wonder, and stewardship.

I’m Ian—known around these woods as Ian the Gnome—and alongside my young apprentices, Socrates (3) and Sheba (2), we care for our bees throughout the seasons. Together, we watch the wildflowers bloom, listen to the river run, and tend hives tucked among towering trees that have stood for generations.

Our bees forage across a rich landscape of native wildflowers, forest blossoms, berry thickets, and river meadows, creating honey that captures the character of this remarkable place. We harvest only once each year, allowing the bees to thrive and the honey to develop its full depth, complexity, and seasonal flavor.

Every jar of Honey Bee’ian tells the story of our forest, our family, and our bees.

Our Philosophy

We believe great honey begins with healthy bees and a healthy ecosystem.

That’s why we:

🐝 Harvest only once annually

🌲 Maintain hives within protected old-growth forest habitat

🌼 Encourage native pollinators and wildflowers

🍯 Bottle in small batches by hand

👨‍👧‍👦 Share the experience as a family, passing knowledge from one generation to the next

For Socrates and Sheba, beekeeping is already becoming a lesson in patience, responsibility, and respect for the natural world.

The Taste of Place

Honey Bee’ian isn’t just honey—it’s a snapshot of our forest.

The flavor changes with the seasons and the bloom cycles of the surrounding landscape. Notes of wildflower nectar, berry blossom, woodland herbs, and riverside flora create a honey that is uniquely tied to the land from which it comes.

No additives.
No shortcuts.
Just pure, raw honey crafted by bees and bottled by family.
